As member of a recently group of tricontinental media academics formed in Havana, some of the ideas in this anouncement like Maoian marxism, subjectivity and different world logics seem relevant to our agenda.
Postmodernity, modernity, modernization and imposed acceptance of core theoretical concepts are all on our table, as well as the generation of their local challenges.
Good luck with your academic and activist work, companero Badiou.

fyi, this event has been moved to wed the 16th, 6:30 @ NYU Law School's Vanderbilt Hall, room 206. And it's a bunch of speakers, including Zittrain, Tim Wu, Clay Shirky, and others.

Abstract: What will come of the next decade on the Internet? We often
take for granted the state of the net today, but there's no guarantee
that it will remain this way. Will the digital future be dystopian, or
is there a brighter outlook ahead than some may believe? Our panelists
-- thinkers and net visionaries -- will provide their perspectives on
the future of the net, with backgrounds ranging from art, law,
technology, politics, media, culture, and entrepreneurship. We will tap
in to each speaker's knowledge to provide a unique vision of the digital
future, and will engage with members of the audience to further the
exploration of what lies ahead.

Strongly Recommend War & Media Theory at NYU's MCC. I took the course Spring '06 - it was invaluable to my work and Feldman can be a brilliant teacher when he wants to be.

I am teaching a survey history of American journalism (J6036, W 1-3), which explores the evolution of the practices, ethics, and technologies of newsgathering from the broadsheet to the blog and assesses how journalism has both shaped and been shaped by the public sphere. Emphasis is on reading and viewing plenty of historic examples of journalism.
