sociology of media lectures at the new school (dayan, brown, thompson)

October 18, 2007

the new school sociology of media lecture series will kick off next week with a lecture by visiting professor daniel dayan (institut d’etudes politiques de paris). the title is ‘the beijing olympics and the global media event’. coming from the co-author of ‘media events’, that sure sounds interesting. the lecture will take place in room d1009, in the 79 fifth avenue building, 06:00pm-? on thursday october 25th.

— two more events are forthcoming —

a lecture by lisa brown (university of kwazulu-natal, durban, south africa) on ‘the joy of suffering: nietzsche, theodicy and women’s bodies’ (wolff conference room, 65 fifth avenue, 06:00pm, thursday, november 8th)

and a lecture by john b. thompson (university of cambridge, uk) on ‘books in the digital age’ (wolff conference room, 65 fifth avenue, 06:00pm, thursday, november 29th). check out his book by the same title here.
